Our PE curriculum at WTPS inspires learners to develop a lifelong interest in participating physical activity and sport. It is inclusive and ensures that all pupils of all abilities access the wide range of activities we offer and that they are physically active for sustained periods of time in order to encourage them to lead healthy, active lives. Children will develop their fundamental movements skills (agility, balance and co-ordination) and take part in competitive situations, against themselves and others. In addition to this, specialist coaches will enhance the teaching and learning of PE within the curriculum and provide extra-curricular activities. Furthermore, a range of lunchtime activities and participation in inter and intra school competitions and sports day will ensure maximum participation outside the school curriculum. Regular participation in sport and physical activity helps to improve physical fitness, help with weight management, promote good health, instil self discipline, develop skills, improve self confidence, reduce stress and develop life long learning skills. This is what we aim to instil in William Torbitt children – that physical education impacts all areas of life.
